We are pleased to announce CHISPA (Cheyenne Hispanics Improving Strengthening Powerful Alliance) in partnership with HOPE (Hispanic Organization for Progress and Education) has been awarded a grant from the Nuestra Herencia Grant Program to further the research of the Following the Manito Trail Project through a new initiative: Mi Camino, Mi Historia.

This community-based cultural preservation project will be documenting stories of Manito (New Mexican) and Mexican American families in Wyoming, with a special focus on the historic Southside and Westside [the poso) of Cheyenne and Westside of Laramie.

​

Through Mi Camino, Mi Historia, CHISPA is honored to document the experiences and cultural heritage of families whose labor, resilience, and community-building have shaped Wyoming's history. Together, we will preserve these histories for future generations, while uplifting and strengthening our community.

Over the next 6 months, we'll be inviting community members to participate by sharing family photographs, documents, and stories. If your family has roots in the Southside of Cheyenne, Westside of Laramie, or other Wyoming communities connected to the Manito Trail, we would love to hear from you.
